Does the name of the entity contain the words "national", "N.A.", "federal bank", "federal savings bank", "FSB", or "federal credit union"?

  •  National Banks (N.A.)

Commercial banks having the word "National" or using "N.A." (national association) in their name are regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of Currency.

  • Federal Savings & Loans (S&L) or Federal Savings Banks (F.S.B.)

Savings banks, and savings and loan associations having the word "Federal" or using FSB (federal savings bank), FSA (federal savings association), FA (federal association) or FSLA (federal savings and loan association) in their name are regulated by the  Office of Thrift Supervision.

  • Federal Credit Unions

Credit unions having the word "federal" in their name are regulated by the National Credit Union Administration.

  • National Information Center (NIC)

The National Information Center (NIC) provides comprehensive information on banks and other institutions for which the Federal Reserve has a supervisory, regulatory, or research interest including both domestic and foreign banking corporations operating in the U.S.
